Meet Debbie Porter our October member profile. She was born in Indianapolis, moved to KY and she says she was raised on Bourbon, Country Music and Wide – Open Spaces. Her work history in public relations includes jobs at the KY Speedway and the Indy Racing League.
In 2004, Debbie and her family moved to Cincinnati. Her younger sister, Chrissy needed a heart transplant and while her sister was a patient at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Debbie was able to witness firsthand all the incredible care and bed side
manner of one Dr. Spencer, her sister’s cardiologist. They refer to him as a modern day “Patch Adams.” Chrissy is doing great to this day and pays tribute to her medical team at CCHMC.
After relocating to the Cincinnati area, Debbie began working as a Community Affairs Manager at WLW News 5. She met and married Joe Porter and together they have had several moves with his career at P&G. Their first child was born in Switzerland. They have since returned to the Cincinnati area and have grown their family. For the last five years, they have settled in Indian Hill. Debbie is currently working as a business entrepreneur and planner with Clover Hunt Events.
Her introduction into KV#50 was through Suzanne Nemeth. She was invited to join that group and Debbie has taken on the daunting task of Chairing our annual Fall Event. With her committees, they are presenting Casino Royale on Saturday Oct 26th at Fueled Collective in Hyde Park. Check out the event flyer and let’s all support this fun night out.
Debbie has a full and busy life and thought this quote sums up her philosophy.
“Doesn’t everyone die at last and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
Thank you, Debbie, for making room in your life to help support other precious lives. Submitted by Sheila Horan, KV#56
