As we prepare for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, we have much to be thankful for. I am personally grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Kindervelt Organization. The caliber of women I am surrounded with never ceases to impress me. We truly embody “Together we can make a Difference” across every fundraising event we host, no matter the size or type of event. I also want to take time to thank my family and friends for their support allowing me to bring my full self to Kindervelt. Please make sure to take time to thank your friends and family this Thanksgiving season.
The Kraft season is in full swing. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the variety of handcrafted items KV crafters have created this year, you won’t want to miss out. There is still time to support our crafts citywide events at Seton High School this Saturday, Nov 2nd, Nov 14th at CCHMC, and November 30th at West Side Market.
The Casino Royale, a citywide Fall Event, was this past Saturday and folks are buzzing about how much fun it was. A special thanks to our Chair, Debbie Porter, who dove right in as a new Kindervelt member and organized an amazing event in support of the Advanced Leukemia Therapies and Research Center. I also want to thank the Fall Event committee members who were essential to the successful event (Tracy Smith, Molly Meiners, Alexis Martin, Bonnie Hueneman, Jeanne Reisinger, Jennie Strode, Natalie Meyer, Katie Gawne, and Debbie Linneman) We had the honor of hearing from an adult survivor of AML, Jeffries Dell. His journey as a child with AML to Adulthood is truly inspirational. He is in the 0-5% that survive AML. If you missed out this year, you won’t want to miss next year’s event.
I am also excited to share that the Kindervelt Hospital Chair fund will be used to establish a second Pulmonary Biology Chair in the name of Kindervelt. This fund was established as part of the divisional support across 1988-1990, and this investment has continued to grow, over 30+ years ago, allowing a second chair to be funded. It is truly amazing to see how Kindervelt efforts continue to drive an impact for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Our Social Media Chair, Alexis Martin, is hard at work keeping our social media channels updated with the latest information. Make sure to check out Kindervelt Friday Facts posts and Why Kindervelt Wednesday which features KV member’s WHY story on being a member of Kindervelt. I encourage you to follow, like, and share as this helps grow awareness in the Cincinnati Community about Kindervelt and what we do to support Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Lastly, don’t forget to vote for Kindervelt in the Greater Cincinnati Non-Profit of the Year awards. Kindervelt was once again selected as a finalist for the Health Care Pediatrics Non-Profit of the Year Award for last year’s amazing efforts. Voting ends today Nov 1st. Here is the link VOTE NOW
I would like to leave you with this quote, recognizing the importance of helping others.
“The heart of a volunteer is never measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.” -DeAnn Hollis
