The Western & Southern (W&S) Tennis Tournament was another success for Citywide Kindervelt. Volunteers again sold souvenirs and ice to the guests while being ambassadors for the event each day.
There was a total of 225 shifts to be filled from August 13th to August 21st. Prior to the start of the tournament shifts were 100% full of more than 160 individuals! A special thanks to those who worked, especially 2, 3 and even 4 shifts. So many of these individuals return year after year in support of Kindervelt and great tennis.
Covid affected our workers and scheduling but those who were healthy, stepped up and filled those last-minute vacancies. We are grateful for your time and enthusiasm.
Special thanks go to KV Groups 12, 16, 22, 29, 49, 57, and 78 along with members from Citywide for your volunteer hours. Your time spent is fully appreciated at the tournament.
Katie Haas, Western & Southern Open CEO, expressed her appreciation for the strong partnership that Kindervelt has developed over the years with the tournament and the community. Ms. Haas’ appreciation secured additional funds for Kindervelt from ‘Tennis for Charity’ (tennis4charity.org), whose chairman Ken Berry kindly agreed to match Kindervelt’s commission for the W&S up to $10,000! We await the final numbers.
Forever grateful,
