Within the Kindervelt Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), we provide the highestquality care to the sickest children everyday. And it’s only possible because wework as a team. From the staff caring forchildren at the bedside to the families weserve, to our generous community ofsupporters—we’re all a part of somethingbigger. Together, we’re improving care and compassion for critically ill children.

And just like the team at the bedside in the PICU, I know our generous supporters will go aboveand beyond to help children in our care. I am in awe of the changes made possible because ofKindervelt—our largest fundraising auxiliary. The community of neighborhood volunteers continues to raise the support needed to allow our PICU to grow from a 35-bed medical andsurgical unit to 48 beautiful, family-centered rooms in our new Critical Care Building.

Exceptional care is more than medicine. The Kindervelt Pediatric Intensive Care Unit also offers thebest experience for our families—allowing us to provide the highest quality care in a comfortingand welcoming environment. It recognizes and celebrates the uniqueness of each child. Itunderstands the profound impact that families, including siblings, have on the healing process andcreates a space for them. And in the hardest and saddest moments, the new design of the PICUprovides space for solace and privacy.
