Charitable Remainder Trusts

A charitable remainder trust is a type of planned gift that pays you and/or beneficiary(ies) income for life, and then upon the deaths of all beneficiaries, the amount remaining is distributed to Kindervelt of Cincinnati Children’s.  The donor creates an irrevocable trust that specifies:

  • the amount of payments to be distributed and to whom they are to be paid,
  • the duration of payments, either in a period of years or the beneficiary’s lifetime, and
  • the charity or charities that will receive the remainder.

The donor receives a current income tax deduction in the year the trust is funded equal to the present value of the amount projected to remain for charity.
